Hoxton station alarm

Request ID: FOI-3156-1920
Date published: 31 January 2020

You asked

‘The ‘Inspector Sands’ alarm has been going off frequently at night time in Hoxton station. My home is very close to the station and the alarm is so loud it wakes my household up. This must be affecting the quality of sleep or many people in the local area. This seems to ha happened multiple times in the last few weeks. I appreciate that safety is very important but could you look into why this is happening and see if there is a way it could be lessened? Also, could I request a FOI request about how many times this alarm has gone off in the last six months?’ Could you please look in tot his. Thank you.

We answered

TfL Ref: 3156-1920

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 January 2020 asking for information about the emergency alarm at Hoxton station.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.  You asked how many times this alarm has gone off in the last six months.

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as we do not record or collate how many times the alarm is triggered at the station.

The complaint you have raised as part of your email does not fall within the scope of the Freedom of Information Act, therefore I have passed this to our Customer Experience Team who will look into the matter and contact you separately in due course.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
