TfL Ref: FOI-3124-2223

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23rd February 2023 - as clarified on 6th March 2023 - asking for information about threatening behaviour on London buses.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:
There has been increased cases of unruly behaviour on buses especially resulting in physical and verbal abuse. Members of public report these incidents on tfl website. For analysis purposes please provide list of such incidents on bus journeys broken down by bus route, location and type of in incident.”
This was clarified as follows:

Is it possible to include the data from both sources [i.e. from both Police data and from our Customer Services team] for last 6 months”.

I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

The first spreadsheet attached provides data reported to us by the police, from August 2022 to the end of January 2023. As explained previously, we do not hold this by route, only by borough. The second spreadsheet shows data taken from correspondence sent to our Customer Services team over the same period. This shows the bus route to which the incident related, if we were provided with that information.

The following page of our website provides advice to passengers on staying safe and secure on TfL services, along with details of how to report a crime or incident:
