Request ID: FOI-3097-2324 Date published: 11 January 2024
You asked
I am writing to request traffic count numbers on some of the vehicle bridges in the City of London i.e. Blackfriars, Tower and London. If possible could it be broken down into buses, private vehicles, emergency vehicles etc. and cover a few years (maybe including before the pandemic as well?). Also, is there any information about the frequency of collisions on these bridges. Thank you.
Clarification received 30/11/2023: Could I request the data for the past 5 years please?

I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
In regard to the request for traffic count data, please see the attached folder. This provides the traffic flow data from our digital camera sensors on Blackfriars Bridge, Tower Bridge and London Bridge split by mode (a classifications definitions breakdown also attached). The data from Blackfriars and Tower Bridges is from 14/05/20 and the data from London Bridge is from 12/04/21 (Southbound) and 03/12/21 (Northbound) as these were the dates when the sensors were installed. Please note this is raw data so there may be gaps in the data due to sensor outages.
In regard to collisions, please see our published ‘London Collision Map’ which can be found on page four of the Road Danger Reduction Dashboard. Data is available from 2017 to July 2023, which is the latest processed collision information available. You can use the + / - icons to zoom in and out of the map.
