You asked
Hi
Could I have the information about the capacity of each London Underground station, capacity meaning here both peak capacity so how many passengers the station could in theory maximally hold, as well as peak fully operational capacity which would be the maximum number of people a station could hold and still operate at peak performance.
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-3083-2223
Thank you for your email which we received on 20 February 2023, asking for information about the capacity of each London Underground station.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.
Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested. We hold stations’ platforms capacity, but other areas of stations are considered transient. Our stations are dynamic places where the passenger flow through the station is monitored, especially at platform level and when the risk of overcrowding occurs there are plans in place to restrict entry to the station.
Please see our Station Capacity Standards document S1371 which you may find helpful.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
