I would be grateful if you could provide the following information: 1. When the last risk assessment was carried out at Walthamstow Central Underground station. 2. As part of the risk assessment, was consideration given to the fact that the station is used by many more people due to housing developments and since the Victoria Line track refurbishment was completed? 3. What recommendations were made in relation to adding an exit route to accommodate for the larger number of people using the station, to ensure a safe evacuation in an emergency?

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 14 February 2019 asking for information about Walthamstow underground station.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

  1. When the last risk assessment was carried out at Walthamstow Central Underground station.

     

    The last Customer Risk Assessment (both normal and emergency) was carried out on the 28/08/18.

     

     

  2. As part of the risk assessment, was consideration given to the fact that the station is used by many more people due to housing developments and since the Victoria Line track refurbishment was completed?

     

    Yes – consideration would have been given to the change in footfall. We also have a Congestion Control and Emergency plan (CCEP) that was last reviewed 05/07/2018. This document is reviewed annually.

     

     

  3. What recommendations were made in relation to adding an exit route to accommodate for the larger number of people using the station, to ensure a safe evacuation in an emergency?

The CCEP ensures we can evacuate the Station quickly and safely if the need arises. The Station has three exits.
