FOI request detail

Hackney and the Isle of Dogs cycle rout

Request ID: FOI-3014-2223
Date published: 08 March 2023

You asked

I have a Freedom of Information request regarding TFLs ‘Cycling and walking improvements between Hackney and the Isle of Dogs’ project. Following consultation on the project in summer 2019, it was announced by TFL in October 2019 that construction on the scheme would begin in the winter, however I understand that construction of the scheme never progressed. As such my FOI request is as follows: - Can you please provide an update on the status of the project. - Are there any timeframes for the delivery of the scheme? - Will there be further consultation on the project ahead of future delivery of the scheme? - Who is the current project lead and their contact details.

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-3014-2223

Thank you for your request which we received on 15 February 2023, asking for information about the cycling and walking project between Hackney and the Isle of Dogs.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

  • Can you please provide an update on the status of the project.

The progress on this project stopped in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There is now funding available to begin construction starting at Mile End Road junction.

  • Are there any timeframes for the delivery of the scheme?

Subject to agreement with the local authority, the intention is to begin construction in spring 2023 starting at Mile End Road junction with Burdett Road.

  • Will there be further consultation on the project ahead of future delivery of the scheme?

No further consultation is planned.

  • Who is the current project lead and their contact details.

The team responsible for the management of the project is Investment Delivery Planning.

With regard to specific contact details, in accordance with TfL’s obligations under Data Protection legislation we would not give out the direct contact details, as required by section 40(2) of the FOI Act. This is because disclosure of this personal data would be a breach of the legislation, specifically the first principle which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individuals have no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions which would make the processing ‘fair’.

You can contact TfL’s customer services for more information via our website; https://tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/.
