Date published: 04 December 2023

You asked

Hello, what if any feedback has been given to Sullivan buses by TFL surrounding the performance of the 299 bus route? Have TFL taken any action surrounding previous poor performance? I would also like to ask what impacts the LTNs in Bounds Green have had on the running of the 102, 299, and 184 bus routes compared to prior to the implementation of the LTN. Thanks

Thank you for your request which we received on 13 November 2023, asking for information about Sullivan buses.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

What if any feedback has been given to Sullivan buses by TFL surrounding the performance of the 299 bus route? Have TFL taken any action surrounding previous poor performance?

We are aware of route 299 poor performance and have been trying to implement a reliability scheme on this route. The scheme is to redistribute run time during most of the day to better match actual run time, and to improve layover time. Unfortunately there has been a delay with the new schedules.

I would also like to ask what impacts the LTNs in Bounds Green have had on the running of the 102, 299, and 184 bus routes compared to prior to the implementation of the LTN.

With regard to route 299, operated by Sullivans, both staff and mechanical lost mileage are high, therefore it’s not clear whether the introduction of the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) scheme had an impact on the bus service. The route’s performance summary is attached for your perusal.

With regard to route 102, operated by Arriva, please see the performance summary attached. It shows the route was affected by the introduction of the LTNs, particularly when the scheme was introduced in Bruce Grove, St Loy’s Road, Alexandra Park Road and Dunsford Road causing additional traffic.

For route 184, operated by Go-Ahead, please find the attached running time data, comparing data from August 2022 and October 2023, at the section of Alexandra Palace and Arnos Grove which covers Bounds Green area, which does show an overall increase in actual run time from before the LTNs were introduced. Attached is also the route’s performance summary.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
