You asked
Dear TfL FOI Team,
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would like to know the following:
1. There is a limited number of stations which are totally accessible for the disabled. Could you please explain me the plan for the future constructions of the accessible facilities in London Underground?
2. The noise of the tube might create a permanent damage to the hearing system of the passengers. Would TFL apply any measures to protect the passengers in the tube and on the station from the hazard of noise?

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 February 2023 asking for information about our accessible station plans. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Improved accessibility remains a key priority for Transport for London (TfL). Despite the recent financial challenges facing TfL, accessibility improvements have continued. Twelve London Underground stations have been made step-free since January 2020. New accessible London Underground stations were delivered at Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms on London Underground in 2021 and Barking Riverside on the Overground in 2022, and all 41 Elizabeth line stations are step-free from street to platform at least.
The new TfL business plan includes funding of approximately £20m per annum focused on improving accessibility throughout the rail network. TfL is currently undertaking a prioritisation exercise looking at benefits and complexity to inform a future programme. Locations where third-party funding may be available to cover some or all of the cost of any scheme are also a consideration in this exercise.
