Thank you for your email received by us on 05 January 2018 asking for information about the A40 temporary speed limit east & west bound Greenford to target roundabout.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

“Can you tell me why there is a temporary 30mph speed limit between target and Greenford roundabout on A40 east and west bound and no works are taking place it has been like this for over a month now with nothing visible new. Taking place plus is it been enforced by the average speed cameras too the police don’t even know why it’s there and have complained too”

As part of a routine inspection of the A40 the central barrier was found to have suffered some corrosion. To ensure that safety of all road users is maintained we implemented a 30mph speed limit while we investigate the least disruptive way and time to replace the central barriers. The 30mph section is not enforced with the average speed cameras instead it uses separate spot speed cameras.
