Request ID: FOI-2670-1920

You asked
Can I please see an itemised cost breakdown of how much each type of damage costs to repair for the Santander cycle hire bikes as well as a maintenance log for 2018?
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-2669-1920 and FOI-2668-1920 and 2670-1920
Thank you for your requests received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 December 2019 asking for information about our cycles and cycle hire scheme
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
However, in accordance with section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with a request if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. This is calculated at £25 per hour for every hour spent on the activities described.
Under Regulation 5(2) of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limits and Fees) Regulations 2004, we are permitted to aggregate requests where they relate to any extent to the same or similar information and this aggregation applies to any requests that are received within a sixty working day period, including individuals considered to be acting in concert.
We consider that the cost of complying with the three FOI requests detailed below would considerably exceed the cost limit. This is because the information requested covers a large volume of material which would require significant resources to locate, extract and collate everything covered by the request. In many cases the information will be held across different systems and may not be immediately accessible. However it would be difficult for us to determine at what point we have sufficiently collated all of the recorded information caught the requests due to the very wide scope of the request.
Therefore we are refusing the above requests.
In making any future request we would suggest that you consider carefully what information is of most importance to you, and to take account of the guidance and advice provided by the ICO on accessing information from public bodies published on its website here: https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/official-information/
You may also find it useful to review replies to previous FOI requests on this or other subjects which may contain information that is of interest to you. You can search using keywords of interest at the following link: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
