TfL Ref: 2562-1819

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2 January 2019 asking for information about the Fatal Assault Fund Account.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require.  You asked: On 31st May 2016 at the tripartite meeting, Fatal Assault Fund Account was spoken of.

Please can you clarify the status of this fund where it is, what it is being used for and who is now manging it. Who are the signatories?

The fund is held under trust, separate from Transport for London; it sits in the Unity Trust Bank and was set up to provide assistance in the event a bus driver or an operational colleague, contracted to a TfL bus route tender service, suffered a life-changing injury or death in service, particularly from a physical assault. The fund has been in abeyance for many years and the Tripartite Meeting is now looking at how it should be taken forward. The current signatories are John Griffiths and Jim Buckley, of the union Unite, Bob Scowen, of London Arriva, and former Surface Transport Managing Director Leon Daniels.

Thankfully there have not been any fatal assaults on drivers following the creation of the fund.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
