Request ID: FOI-2543-2122
Date published: 07 February 2022

You asked

Dear Transport for London, You have previously released timetable data at http://timetables.data.tfl.gov.uk/, however this site hasn't been updated for a number of months and the information is not current. Could you: 1. Make available a copy of the current WTT/TTN for each of the current working timetables in the Common User Format 2. Indicate whether you have an intention to update http://timetables.data.tfl.gov.uk/ in the future for subsequent changes to the timetable 3. Advise whether you have an existing business process to make electronic version of the WTT/TTNs (ideally in machine-readable format) available to third parties in advance of a timetable change, and who an interested party should contact to receive updated information

We answered

Our ref: FOI-2380-2122/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 January 2022 asking for information about London Underground timetables.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

  1. Make available a copy of the current WTT/TTN for each of the current working timetables in the Common User Format
All working timetable information is published on our website in PDF format, the address is as follows (https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/working-timetables).  We do not routinely publish this information in the Common User Format, however we have attached these files in as requested.

  1. Indicate whether you have an intention to update http://timetables.data.tfl.gov.uk/ in the future for subsequent changes to the timetable
This website is no longer live or maintained, this has been superseded by data provision through the APIs – see further detail below. (We will be speaking to the relevant team to close this particular site to avoid confusion in the future).

3. Advise whether you have an existing business process to make electronic version of the WTT/TTNs (ideally in machine-readable format) available to third parties in advance of a timetable change, and who an interested party should contact to receive updated information
TfL publish up to date timetable information our open data API stream – the timetable data is updated every seven days.  Details of the data available and how to register for access can be found on our website here: https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/open-data-users/our-open-data.  The section which may be of interest to you are those that relate to Journey Planner (which include the LU timetables in electronic form) and the Tube related streams which provide live departure board information.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
