Thank you for your email received by us on 30 November 2017 asking for information on Taxi and Private Hire (TPH) Hackney carriage vehicles. Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

“Since January 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 to date 1st december, How many licensed private hire / hackney carriage vehicles have been licensed by your authority from sheffield city council post code area.

How many current applications currently are outstanding to process for drivers and vehicles by your authority to be licensed for both hackney carriage / private hire.

How many private hire operators are licensed with your authority with sheffield city council post code are..”

Unfortunately, we cannot retrospectively look back at previous years for ‘active’ vehicles from the Sheffield area as the status is overwritten on the Taxi and Private Hire Operational Licensing Administration (TOLA) system.

As renewals can be made 4 months before the expiry of the licence, we can only provide information on the active vehicles at the time the report is run.

As at 06 December 2017, the figures were as follows:

There are currently 164 licensed Private Hire Vehicles from addresses in Sheffield.  There are no licensed Taxi vehicles from addresses in Sheffield.

There are 14 private hire vehicles applications from addresses in Sheffield currently being considered.  There are no taxi vehicle licenses from addresses in Sheffield being considered.

There are currently 35 Private Hire and 4 Taxi driver applications pending from applicants with addresses in Sheffield.

To be licensed in London a private hire operator must have an operating centre located within the Greater London area through which bookings are taken. All London licensed operators meet this requirement.
