Dear TFL, Please may you provide an update on the downtime of the escalators since this request: FOI-3251-1920. Please may you provide a copy of the internal review mentioned in that response. Finally, please could you provide a schedule of forthcoming works at the station and when you expect all four escalators to be working again.

Thank you for your request received on 4 January 2023 asking for information about the escalators at Cutty Sark DLR Station.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require.

Since TfL took over responsibility for the escalators we have been able to invest the time and resources to ensure that the current overhaul works being undertaken are sufficiently comprehensive to ensure that all four assets will bring better reliability and performance for our valued customers.

You asked for:

Please may you provide an update on the downtime of the escalators since this request: FOI-3251-1920.

Please see the attached spreadsheet which gives information on any outages on the Cutty Sark escalators since January 2020.

Please may you provide a copy of the internal review mentioned in that response.

We do not hold an internal review document. As stated in our previous response, there were issues of under-reporting of escalator outages by the previous incumbent. Since operation of the Lewisham extension, incorporating seven stations (including Cutty Sark), has been incorporated in to the Franchise operated by Keolis Amey Docklands (KAD) there has been a considerable amount of remedial work undertaken, which will provide a marked improvement in escalator service at this station. Information on escalator performance is now regularly reported.

Finally, please could you provide a schedule of forthcoming works at the station and when you expect all four escalators to be working again.

Each escalator is bespoke due to the different composition of all of the stations on our network so any repairs can be lengthy depending on the location. We have had to manufacture specific parts for this escalator. Our contractors are currently working to fit a new drive to Escalator 2. Once safely installed they will be able to start the refurbishment.

We continue to look at ways to reduce the amount of disruption on our customers while we undertake these works.
