Please can you publish the rules or guidelines for bus drivers Currently working for London bus companies wanting to obtain their licence for London to be able to move to a different bus company. Can the bus company the employee currently works for refuse to give a driver their licence for London if they decide to work for a different bus company

Thank you for your email received by us on 15 November 2019 asking for information about bus drivers and licensing rules and regulations.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. You asked for:
the rules or guidelines for bus drivers Currently working for London bus companies wanting to obtain their licence for London to be able to move to a different bus company. Can the bus company the employee currently works for refuse to give a driver their licence for London if they decide to work for a different bus company
Transport for London does not hold this information as an employee’s bus operating company have their own requirements and will either train candidates to take their Public Service Carriage licence or recruit licence holders.
In the meantime, drivers may wish to contact their trade union if they require assistance or clarification in this area.
