To whom it may concern Under the FOI could you please disclose the amount of Toyota Prius vehicles that are or have used as private hire vehicles since feb 2012 to feb 2017

We answered

Our ref: FOI-2476-1617

Thank you for your email received on 12 March 2017 asking for information on vehicles that have been licensed for private hire use. I am sorry for the delay in replying.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require, however, to provide all the information requested would exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with a request if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. This is calculated at £25 per hour for every hour spent on the activities described.

To check expired licences would require an extensive data process to be carried out on many thousands of licences and the information to be analysed and verified. This would take an excessive amount of time.

We are however, able to check active vehicle licenses, and as of 15 March, there were 22,008 Toyota Prius vehicles, of various models, actively licensed as private hire vehicles.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
