TfL Ref: FOI-2469-1920

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 November 2019.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

I would like to request a copy of your strategy documentation covering dissemination of information on the introduction of ULEZ UK wide.

Attached is a copy of the strategy we used to explain the media channel selection and targeting approach.

The response sent to you on 13 November provided all of the channels we used to take reasonable steps to raise awareness of the implementation of the central London Ultra Low Emission Zone and to help vehicle owners who may be affected by the emissions requirements prepare.

I can confirm that we placed specific advertising in all of the media listed in the previous FOI response and that included the three national newspapers listed, The Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Mirror who have some distribution in Northern Ireland. We did not run adverts in The Belfast Telegraph, The Belfast News Letter or the Irish News.  The Belfast Telegraph published information about the launch of the scheme. Below is a link to their online editorial  .

The communications channels selected were used on the basis of the most cost effective way to reach as many drivers rather than specific regions as possible to raise awareness of the ULEZ and to encourage vehicle operators to prepare. We also launched the communications campaign a year before the implementation of the ULEZ in order to give drivers as much notice as possible whether they are frequent or infrequent drivers visiting central London.

Yours sincerely
