Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27th January 2022 asking for information about the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Please would you kind provide details of how many fines were issued to Tax Class C vehicles in the month of January 2022?”
I am afraid that TfL does not hold the requested information as we do not need to record the tax class of vehicles in order to manage the scheme. Our network of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras - which monitor vehicles entering the zone - automatically link to information held by the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) which confirms the vehicle’s compliance status. Non-compliant vehicles are issued with a Penalty Charge Notice depending on the information returned by the DVLA.
