I would like all the information available on how accessible TFL is for disabled people, please. I would also like all the information on the 5-year plan to make the underground more accessible. I would like all the accessibility information available for the London Underground (like which stations have wheelchair access, what kind of wheelchair access specifically, number of disabled toilets). TfL Ref: FOI-2417-1920

Thank you for your email which we received on 13 November 2019, asking about wheelchair accessibility on the London Underground.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm TfL does hold the information you require. You asked:

We are improving accessibility on the Tube by making more stations step-free. Step-free access stations have lifts or ramps - or a combination of both - so that customers don't have to use escalators or stairs to move between the street and the platform.

Currently 78 Tube stations have step-free access. Our step-free tube map shows stations where you can get between the platform and street step-free, or change between lines step-free. Step-free stations are marked with a colored symbol and a letter showing he size of the gap between the platform and the train. At some stations access to the train is by manual boarding ramp. These stations are also clearly marked on the map. The map is available here http://content.tfl.gov.uk/step-free-tube-guide-map.pdf

A map showing where public toilets are on the London Underground network is already available on the TfL website at http://content.tfl.gov.uk/toilets-map.pdf Those that are wheelchair accessible are clearly marked.

For more details about accessibility on the TfL network please visit our website at https://tfl.gov.uk/transport-accessibility/

TfL’s latest annual report and statement of accounts is also available online at http://content.tfl.gov.uk/tfl-annual-report-and-statement-of-accounts-2018-19.pdf

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
