You asked

F/on from FOI-2004 Thank you for the information as requested but could you confirm if the local authorities and boroughs also have to pay the same lane rental charges and do you have a similar breakdown of these to the utilities listing please? Also how do the TfL figures break down

We answered

Our ref: FOI-2380-1617

Thank you for your email received on 23 February 2017 asking for further information about lane rental charges.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

There are only two highway authorities currently operating Lane Rental Schemes in England – Transport for London and Kent. The TfL scheme only operating on 56% of the TfL road network and does not operate on Borough Roads. As such the London Boroughs do not operate schemes under the Lane Rental Regulations and would not be subject to charges.

An amended version of the spreadsheet is attached, which includes a separate tab showing the TfL breakdown.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
