Thanks for your email. In response to my earlier FOI request regarding problems with pigeons in the tube network, you stated that Pigeons, gulls and wasps are rarely a problem in the deep tube or sub surface tunnels. However pigeons can be a problem in areas where the tracks run above ground.
I was hoping you might be able to clarify whether pigeons are a problem in the ticket halls which are below ground level, as these spaces are most similar to the development that my client is proposing.
Thanks for providing this information. Do you happen to know if birds are known to use the underground ticket halls?
We answered
TfL Ref: 2344-1819
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5 December 2018 asking for information about problems with pigeons in our London Underground station ticket halls.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
Pigeons are rarely a problem below ground on our tube network. The busy and enclosed nature of underground ticket halls mean that pigeons are not attracted to these spaces and very rarely enter them.
If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
