Our Ref: FOI-2300-2425
Thank you for your request received on 22 October 2024 asking for information about lost pets on our network.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
Please find attached a list of recorded disruptions related to dogs or cats unattended or on the loose at London Underground stations or tracks from 1 January 2021 up to 21 October 2024. Please note that we have carried out a search for ‘dogs’ and ‘cats’ only, and not any other animal that may be a pet as we do not have a category of ‘pet’ within our reporting. Any incidents of a cat or dog found on the network did not cause a disruption may not have been recorded.
We only capture the primary cause of a delay and the location where it happened, therefore if a disruption involved a section of the line closed to retrieve an animal from the tracks, only the location where the incident started is recorded.
On the rare occasions where an animal is involved and an owner has not contacted them then the station staff will contact a local pet rescue or charity.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
