Internal Mirror injuries for Buses
Request ID: FOI-2289-1819
Date published: 31 December 2018
You asked
For the last 5 years how many incidents occurred where people have sustained injury as a result of the (wheelchair access mirrors) for the drivers to view / check on the lower deck of buses in the central part of the buses? In particular any head injuries please.
Could this be broken down by year (2014, 2015, 2016,2017,2018) and include any description / detail of injuries sustained and location of incident?
We answered
Our ref: FOI-2289-1819/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 28 November 2018 asking for information about incidents where were injured by the internal mirrors on buses.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
Unfortunately we do not hold the information you require. Our safety management system on which incidents are reported does not categorise incidents against a certain part of the bus such as a mirror. We therefore are unable to differentiate those incidents which involved internal mirrors from others. The information which we do hold is published quarterly on our website at: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/bus-safety-data.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
