We answered

Our Ref:       FOI-2269-2425

Thank you for your request received on 22 October 2024 asking for further information about e-scooters on the London Underground.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:

1.         Please provide data on how many individuals were prosecuted for carrying an e-scooter on the London Underground in the years 2024

There have been 155 individuals prosecuted between 1 January to 31 October 2024 under ‘Bringing & Possessing A Potentially Dangerous Item on the Railway’. As such, there may be some cases where prosecution has related to an item other than an e-scooter.

2.         Please provide data on total number of TfL behaviour related byelaw offences dealt with via "other than prosecution" outcomes.

There have been 1,424 warnings covering all byelaw offences over the same period. More information on the areas the byelaws cover can be found on our website:

https://content.tfl.gov.uk/railway-byelaws.pdf

3.         Please provide data on how many first-time offenders were prosecuted for TfL behaviour related byelaw offences vs how many dealt with via "other than prosecution”.

There have been 1,483 prosecutions over the same period covering all byelaw offences. We are unable to confirm if those prosecuted were first time TfL offenders or not as we do not hold that information.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
