FOI request detail

Parking

Request ID: FOI-2247-1819
Date published: 19 December 2018

You asked

I would also like to make a Freedom of Information request for the restrictions that apply to each road in London or under your jurisdiction in London with regards to parking (that a Parking Enforcement Officer or your town planning/transport may have). This would be up-to-date and include: The road name, type of enforcement (e.g. paid bays only/controlled zone) and day/time of enforcement (e.g.Mon - Fri 09:00 - 18:00), where along the road this restriction is and length of this enforcement type in a measurement such as meters. If possible, it would be best listed on a document or if not, on a map with these sections and the aforementioned information about enforcement type in an electronic form. Thank you for your time.

We answered

Dear

TfL Ref: FOI-2247-1819

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 25 November 2018.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm we do hold the information you require.

Unfortunately, to provide the information you have requested would exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with a request if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. This is calculated at £25 per hour for every hour spent on the activities described. We have estimated that it would considerably exceed the cost limit to provide a response to your current request.

Our system where this information is held does not have a functionality to output this level of information in the format that you require. We would have to manually look up every individual road and check and record the road restrictions that are in place. The time required to locate the requested information and compile it all would be a burdensome task.

To help bring the cost of responding to your request within the £450 limit, you may wish to supply a localised area or particular roads that you are interested in, so we could more easily provide the detailed information you require.

Although your request can take the form of a question, rather than a request for specific documents, TfL does not have to answer your question if it would require the creation of new information or the provision of a judgement, explanation, advice or opinion that was not already recorded at the time of your request.

Please note that we will not be taking further action until we receive your revised request.

In the meantime, if you have any queries or would like to discuss your request, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely

Eva Hextall
