We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2190-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 15 November 2017 asking for information about correspondence.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require.

Uber London Ltd have been, and remain, subject to the same licence conditions as other private hire vehicle operators in London.

I can confirm that, in addition to the cases you have listed, TfL also took enforcement action against Uber London Limited in 2014 in relation to the use of a vehicle without insurance (case nos. 01140145717 & 011401736305).

We do not hold any information in relation to litigation strategies adopted by Uber. However, judgments of the High Court are available on legal search engines including Westlaw, LexisNexis and the British and Irish Legal Information Institute. You can also contact the Court directly for further details. Court papers may be obtained on application to the Courts, and are therefore exempt from the FOI Act under section 32 of the FOI Act.

We have recently responded to several FOI requests asking for the Uber decision letter and any accompanying documentation. However, we have refused these requests in accordance with section 31(1)(c) and section 31(2)(c) of the FOI Act. The full reasoning behind our refusal can be found at the following link: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-1589-1718

Therefore, in accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to provide you with the information requested as it is accessible to you elsewhere.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
