You asked
I made the same request over a month ago, but I did not get a response, as per the government's guidelines on freedom of information requests and your own policy. Therefore, I would appreciate a swift response to this duplicate query.
I wanted to find out how many of your train operators suffer from type 1 diabetes or if you have a discriminatory policy which would preclude them from getting into the position? If you do have train ops that suffer from this condition, how many developed this whilst employed and how many were taken on with this condition?

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6 November 2017 asking for information about train operators with type 1 diabetes.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
According to our personnel records there are no train operators suffering from type 1 diabetes.
All medical conditions and their impact on medical suitability for specific work tasks (eg train operating) are assessed individually in keeping with the Equality Act.
For Diabetes treated with Insulin, employees would undergo a full assessment and, depending on the outcome of that, an individual workplace risk assessment would take place that examined the risks and possible mitigations against risk eg safe systems of work. This would lead to a decision regarding medical suitability for work.
If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
