Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 November 2018 asking for information about the junction of Tottenham High Road and Broad Lane.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
- Confirm that your social media team did make contact with your contractors responsible
Any complaints and enquiries from members of the public that come via Twitter are filtered by our Customer Services team and sent on to the relevant team for response. Our Asset Operations team is responsible for roads defects such as the problem you refer to. They receive enquiries from a lot of sources other than Customer Services so it would be difficult for us to verify that we reacted to a specific Twitter complaint. Twitter feeds come into the Control Room, Bus Operations and many other areas within TfL.
In this case there have been many complaints so we are continually visiting the site but it is not always recorded.

We have received a number of complaints about drainage issues in this area and for this we offer our sincere apologies. Issues began emerging after the Tottenham Hale Gyratory scheme was completed in 2014. Our maintenance team has undertaken a series of gully cleans but these actions have not been sustainable. We are currently undertaking a thorough investigation of the drainage at this location with recommendations for improvement changes. Unfortunately, the issues are ongoing but once the report is finalised we can prepare an action plan to mitigate the problem. At this stage we are unable to provide an expected date of completion until we ascertain the extent of the works required.
