TfL Ref: FOI-2056-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26th September 2024 asking for information about the Bow roundabout. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Your questions are answered in turn below:
Question 1: Please give me: Detailed designs of the scheme, including the road markings, footways, cycle tracks, kerbs, and method of control
Answer: Please find attached the Detailed Design of the scheme and Method of Control. No changes are proposed to the existing cycle reservoir signal arrangements and the cycle lanes will remain open throughout the works, with no permanent changes proposed to the existing cycle lanes.
Question 2. Any assessment that you have made of the scheme with the Cycling Level of Service Tool or Junction Assessment Tool - and if not, please explain why?
Answer: No assessment of the junction has been made using the London Cycle Design Standards guidance tools (Cycling Level of Service Tool and Junction Assessment Tool) as the decision to separate cyclists from traffic at this location has already been established here and the route is a Cycleway.
Question 3. A list of consultees (statutory and non statutory) who were invited to provide feedback in advance.
Answer: The scheme is required under the Silvertown Tunnel Development Consent Order and has been consulted on with the Silvertown Tunnel Implementation Group (comprising 12 east London boroughs and National Highways) at nine meetings between January 2021 and September 2023, and material from all these meetings is published on the Transport for London (TfL) website (see here: https://tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/improvements-and-projects/silvertown-tunnel-implementation-group). This consultation involved detailed discussions with the London boroughs of Newham and Tower Hamlets which are summarised via two records of decision notes on the TfL website. The Secretary of State for Transport was also required to approve the proposed schemes; this approval was granted earlier this year.
