Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 18th November 2022 asking for cycle hire trip data.
 
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. 

Specifically you asked:

“I am requesting access to cycle hire data, dated after Sep11-2022 up to as recent as possible. This is for my final year research project that I am conducting regarding the first changes in the system with the addition of the e-bikes.”

I can confirm that we hold the information you require. However, due to a technical issue we do not yet have the data in a reportable format. This issue is in the process of being resolved and once it is we will publish the latest data on our website via the following link (where data can already be found up to 11th September 2022). I am afraid I cannot give a specific date for when this will happen but we hope it will be relatively soon:

Given this, the information is currently exempt from disclosure under section 22 of the Freedom of Information Act, which can apply where information is intended for future publication. Section 22 is a ‘qualified’ exemption, meaning we have to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in immediate disclosure. Given the issue described above, and with publication intended as soon as that issue is resolved, we have no option but to apply the exemption.
