We answered

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5 November 2018 asking for information about our cycle hire scheme card payment system.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for the name of the company that provided the hardware for the Boris Bikes card payment system , ie the docking stations and the payment system.

Cycle Hire hold a contract with Cubic Transportation Systems to provide these services. Cubic subcontract the software provision to 8D Technologies, now owned by Motivate. The payment gateway is subcontracted to The Logic Group, now subsumed by Barclaycard. The current payment entry device (hardware) on our terminals is supplied by Verifone to Cubic.
