Dear Transport for London, I would like to ask when was the oldest oyster card that is still in use issued. By still in use i mean that it has either been touched in or touched out or topped up at some point within the last twelve months. I am not asking for any personal details like the card number. I would just simply like to know when the card was issued.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 September 2023 asking for information about the oldest Oyster card still being used.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked: I would like to ask when was the oldest oyster card that is still in use issued. By still in use I mean that it has either been touched in or touched out or topped up at some point within the last twelve months. I am not asking for any personal details like the card number. I would just simply like to know when the card was issued.

The oldest card still in use was issued on 30th June 2003.  It was last used in August 2023 (information correct as at 8 September 2023).
