Our ref: FOI-1721-2122/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 November 2021 asking for information about buses.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

Question A) Can you release the 'branding protocol' document used for zero emission electric and hydrogen buses.

There is not a branding protocol for zero-emission buses as you suggest. We are currently developing the best positioning and sizes of zero emission stickers, and these will be included in the next version of Bus Graphic Standards (see below).

Question B) Is the 'branding protocol' a standard graphic specification for new zero emission buses in London?

Please see the answer above. We anticipate incorporating more information on stickers for zero-emission buses into the next version of Bus Graphic Standards. This is currently being developed.

Question C) When is TfL going to release a new 'Bus Graphics Standard' document on their design standards page to include a new 'branding protocol' for zero emission electric and hydrogen buses, and front door only boarding vinyls for New Routemaster buses? Reference

The most recent TfL Bus Graphic Standards can be found here: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/london-buses-graphics-standard.pdf. As soon as it is superseded, a revised version will be posted on the TfL website. In the interim, we continue to liaise with operators and manufacturers over sticker requirements.

Question D) Can you release route branding livery graphics for the following services:
• Barkingside (routes 128, 150, 167, 169, 247, 275 and 462)
• East London Transit (routes EL1, EL2 and EL3)
• Hayes, West London (routes 90, 140, 195, 350, 427, 607, A10, E6, H98, U4, U5 and U7)
• Route 383
• Route RV1
• Route X140
• Buses promoting zero emission service, date range: January 2014 to present day.
• Other branded routes which are not listed above, date range: January 2019 to present day.

Please see the answers above, and our current bus graphics standards here: https://content.tfl.gov.uk/london-buses-graphics-standard.pdf
