Reasons why the Jubilee Line is not open to the public at Charing Cross

You asked

I would like to know why the decision was made to close the Jubilee Line off to the public at Charing Cross and why no passenger services run. Since 19th November 1999, Charing Cross Jubilee line services were withdrawn following the completion of the extension to Stratford. As part of the consultation in the early 1990’s the public was told that Charing Cross would remain open. The London Underground is a very busy system and the road traffic between Charing Cross,Green Park and Bond Street is always saturated. TFL also have plans to withdraw bus routes 9 and N9 operating down Pall Mall and reroute it via Piccadilly. This will add a lot of time to journeys. Travelling from Bond Street to Charing Cross is awkward as you need to take 2 trains, Central Line to Oxford Circus and then the Bakerloo Line to Charing Cross. This is ridiculous especially when it’s possible to operate a direct train. There are some services which terminate at Green Park, these trains then run down to Charing Cross empty and return. So if it’s possible to do this, then why not operate a service to Charing Cross? Is TFL seriously telling me people would not use it to Charing Cross? Charing Cross is not only a major rail terminus but there are lots of businesses and hotels not forgetting tourist. Not having the Jubilee Line at Charing Cross is inconvenient and has caused me and others problems for years. I really wish the Jubilee Line was never extended to Stratford now especially after being told lies about the service during the consultation period. Not only that, you have wasted millions of pounds of tax payers money on building the Jubilee line to Charing Cross and barely lasted 20 years before closing it off! I was once told by someone that the Charing Cross terminus was closed due to operational and technical reasons which could mean anything, the line is still connected, trains still run down the line empty and both platforms and escalators are still intact. You could even run a peak hour service?
