We answered

TfL Ref: 1530-1920

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 21 August 2019 asking for information about the toilet at Ealing Broadway station.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

Please can you explain when the decision was made to convert the female toilets into unisex toilets at Ealing Broadway Station? Are there any other stations managed by TfL where the female toilets were converted to unisex facilities? No decision has been made to remove the female only toilet at Ealing Broadway. Network Rail are undertaking work to improve and modernise the station including the provision of lifts to the platforms and the construction of new toilets comprising separate female and male facilities with provision for disabled customers within these facilities. However the construction work will cause some disruption to the station as areas are redeveloped. This includes disruption to the existing toilets and waiting room on platform 4. TfL Rail is working hard with Network Rail to maintain toilet facilities at the station whilst the redevelopment work progresses. The next phase of construction will see the existing female toilets reconfigured to provide two separate facilities for female and male, allowing the current male toilets to be taken out of use for the works.

Can you provide copies of the impact and risk assessments carried out in any station where the female facilities were converted to unisex? Please also provide any consultation done with members of the public on this change. This is not held as there are no plans to remove the female only toilets.

and to replace them with a single-sex facility.

Finally, is it only the female toilets that you are converting to unisex in any of the stations where this unisex conversion has taken place? This is not held as there are no plans to remove the female only toilets and to replace them with a single-sex facility.
