We have been alerted by our local councillors of your proposal to change the traffic layout at the north end of Lambeth Bridge. We live in the area between Vauxhall Bridge Road, Horseferry Road and Millbank. We share our councillors deep concerns that this will increase rat running through Vincent Square and surrounding streets. We strongly object to the plans on environmental grounds and the negative effect this will have on already unsafe levels of air pollution.
Under the Freedom of Information Act, please can you send us the details of the air quality impact assessment you will have undertaken as part of this proposal.

Thank you for your request received on 14 September 2017 asking for information about the air quality impact assessment for the proposed changes to Lambeth Bridge roundabout.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy.
The environmental impact of proposed schemes is considered throughout the design process. Although the designs for Lambeth Bridge north and south are not expected to increase the number of motor vehicles in the area, our proposals may change how traffic moves around some roads, which may result in some associated and localised changes to air quality and noise levels. As the project progresses it is subject to a range of assessments, including an environmental review, although we have not undertaken an air quality impact assessment at this point. Pending the outcome of the consultation, we would evaluate the impact of the proposals in more detail.
