Thank you for your requests received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26^th October 2020 asking for information about London Underground drivers.

Your requests have been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Your questions are answered in turn below:

Case ref FOI-1426-2021: Please can you tell me how many Tube drivers were off work between March 1, 2020 and October 26, 2020 after displaying coronavirus symptoms. Can you also tell me how many of these Tube drivers tested positive for Covid-19.

TfL does not hold the data to answer these questions. No comprehensive record was kept of absences specifically in connection with cases or suspected cases of Covid-19 over this period. Staff recorded as absent may not have actually contracted the virus themselves or be displaying symptoms, but may have been shielding or self-isolating.

Case ref FOI-1427-2021: Please can you tell me the annual wage of every single Tube driver on the London Underground in the last financial year.

Please see the data in the table below which shows the London Underground train operator salaries by pay scale group. The data provided is for the period 1st April 2019 to the end of the financial year 31st March 2020. In line with our usual practice, where data relates to a very small number of people (and hence identification is possible) and where the salary is less than £50k per annum, we have redacted figures under section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act, the exemption that protects against the unfair release of personal data.
