Thank you for your request received on 20 August 2018 asking for information about bed bug infestations on the London Underground and London Buses.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and TfL’s information access policy.
We do not hold the information you have requested. As far as we are aware, the bus fleet has not been adversely affected by bed bug infestations in the years in question. Buses are cleaned at the end of each shift and undergo a deep cleanse at intervals. During the mid life of a bus, they are also refurbished including replacement of seat covers. With regard to the London Underground, we do not look specifically for bed bug infestation and therefore do not have any records of such events. However, all of our lines have a rigorous cleaning schedule in place for both the interior and exterior of the trains in order to provide a pleasant environment for our customers.
