Thank you for your email received by us on 17 August 2018 asking for information about the London Overground Class 378 refurbishment program and London Overground Fleet details.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
I can advise that in February 2013, approval was gained for the procurement of 57 additional vehicles to lengthen the Class 378 fleet from four to five cars. In July 2015, we announced an order for 45 new Class 710 units, some of these would be used instead of the Class 378s in use on the Watford DC line. These units were used to strengthen services on the other lines that were also using the Class 378 stock. In January 2016, we announced that all 57 units were now running with five cars.
