Thank you for your request received on 6 September 2017 asking for information on toilet usage on the TfL network.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and TfL’s information access policy. You asked for:

Information on the usage all TfL toilets based at Underground and London Overground Stations that are operated by TFL. This information may be by footfall or where the facilities are paid for how many times the facilities were paid for on a daily basis. I would like the information to cover the following time periods - 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2016 and 1st January 2017 to 31st July 2017 broken down into daily usage.

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as we do not have a counting mechanisms in place for the toilets on our network. We have very few toilets at London Overground stations, and those that do have facilities do not charge for their use. Out of the 100 or so toilet facilities on the London Underground network, only 15 charge for use. Money collection is done on an ad hoc basis, therefore we are also unable to provide you with figures on how many times the facilities were paid for.
