Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 July 2024 asking for information about a Taxi and PHV licensing spot check at Gatwick Airport.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
On 29th July 2024, we deployed officers to carry out a Compliance Reassurance Patrol at Gatwick Airport. During this deployment, we deployed a total of 5 resources and our officers carried out the following level of compliance activity:
1.The names of the licensing officers involved. This information is exempt from disclosure in accordance with our obligations under Data Protection legislation and as required by section 40(2) of the FOI Act. This is because disclosure of this personal data would be a breach of the legislation, specifically the first principle of Article 5 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individuals have no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions which would make the processing ‘fair’.
2. Number of vehicles inspected 32
3. Number of drivers questioned / checked 32
4. Nature and number of vehicle defects found 6
Issues of vehicle non-compliance reported were:
2 vehicles with tyre wear below the legal limit 2 vehicles not showing any ‘No Smoking’ signage 2 vehicles equipped with an unapproved CCTV system
5. Number of prohibition notices issued 0 There were no cases of prohibited/illegal activity detected
6. Any other information pertinent to this operation This is too ambiguous to know what further information you may be requesting. If there is additionally something specific you require, please advise.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
