Which lane is used to measure the baseline distance as this road has multiple lanes 3. Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 28 July 2023 asking for information about average speed calculations.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. You asked for:
 
  1. The baseline distance for this location for the purposes of average speed camera detection is 4079 metres
 
  1. Which lane is used to measure the baseline distance as this road has multiple lanes
 
  1. What system is in place for adjustments for vehicles which start the monitored section in one lane but end it in another

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as it is covered by the certificate of calibration for Home Office Type Approved camera equipment.

Please also note that speeding contraventions are enforced by the Metropolitan Police rather than Transport for London.
