Dear Transport for London,
We would like to know what works have been carried out on the Victoria Line between Victoria and Pimlico stations since January 2016. Why are the trains now audible, when they never used to be? Why does Cambridge Street hear them? Why doesn't TfL answer my email queries?
TfL Ref: 1352-1718
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5 September 2017 asking for information about works carried out on the Victoria Line between Victoria and Pimlico since January 2016.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
Please see attached details of the work orders for the time period requested.
We are not sure why the trains are now audible but we think it may be linked to an issue on the southbound line that we are struggling to identify and therefore fix. Further inspections to identify that issue will take place in October. If we can fix that issue then it may resolve the issue you are referring to. We have had previous complaints from some residents of Cambridge Street in 2004. Noise levels were 40dB then and as you can see in the attached report from May this year they are considerably lower than that at the moment. In terms of infrastructure, there have been no changes to note, however we have increased trains per hour to 36 (from 34) that included a small speed uplift in around May 2017.
I apologise that you feel you haven’t had timely information from TfL. Please contact our customer services section if you have any issues or complaints that you regard as still outstanding or if you require any further assistance by using the information in the following link: https://tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
