FOI request detail

Traffic Lights and Bus Performance during water works and Notting Hill carnival

Request ID: FOI-1346-1718
Date published: 21 December 2017

You asked

Regarding the traffic lights outside Angel Tube Station: - Why have the lights coming from Sainsbury's remained on with a green arrow instructing bikes to turn right where this is a one way street? - Why are you enabling traffic from Essex Road route to cross the path of traffic coming down the temporary one way system towards Sainsbury's? Vehicles should not be able to turn right toward Sainsbury's until the traffic on the one way has stopped. Why have I phoned your comments line three times and after 10 minutes wait nobody answers the phone? What is TfL charging Thames Water per day to run the extra special bus service whilst these works are undertaken? Please can you also let me know the cost of running free buses to the Notting Hill Carnival? Why does TfL constantly run buses empty around London at all hours? Why was there not a shuttle bus service in place when the water works were being carried out in Essex Road?

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-1346-1718

Thank you for your letter received by us on 4 September 2017 asking for information about bus services. I apologise for the delay in replying to you.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.  You asked the following FOI related questions:

  1. What is TfL charging Thames Water per day to run the extra special bus service whilst these works are undertaken.

We do not hold this information as Go Ahead London charge Thames Water directly.

  2. What is the cost of running free buses to Notting Hill Carnival?

We do not operate free buses to/from carnival. We set auto completes for the Tube but  we don’t operate any such exemption on fares in buses as customers have to board through the front doors and tap in regardless.

As your other queries do not fall under FOI, these will be dealt with separately.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,

Melissa Nichols
