Our ref: FOI-1304-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 21 July 2024 asking for information about Rotherhithe Tunnel.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. You asked:
Are there plans to fully close the Rotherhithe Tunnel in 2025 and will this coincide with the opening date of the Silvertown Tunnel and the start of toll charges for both?
If this is the case, when the Rotherhithe Tunnel reopens will it also be chargeable with a toll or are there plans to prevent vehicles other than bikes and buses to use it?
The current plans for 2025 for Rotherhithe Tunnel do not involve a full closure of the tunnel (except for the planned maintenance closure overnight every Monday).
There are no plans for buses to operate through the tunnel, or for a Tunnel User Charge (toll) to be introduced at the Rotherhithe Tunnel.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
Tahsin Prima
