We answered
Our Ref: FOI-1179-1819
Thank you for your request received on 30 July 2018 asking for information about staff numbers.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked:
1. Please tell me how many staff you have who work on social media across all TfL modes. Please show has this number has changed over the last five calendar years.
We do not have any roles which are only dedicated to social media activity – those employees with responsibilities in this area fulfil them as only part of their role and therefore it is not possible to specify what this number is or how it has changed.
Our social media accounts are managed by a range of teams including:
• Customer Services manage the customer service element of all the Tube, rail, Facebook, @TfLTravelAlerts and experiential mode accounts - Emirates Air Line, Santander Cycles cycle hire and @TfLRiver (London River Services).
• Press Office manage the news and PR element across all accounts
• Digital Communications manage the governance and marketing across all accounts
• Buses/CentreComm manages the live updates and customer service on @TfLBusAlerts
• Roads - London Streets and Traffic Control Centre (LSTCC) manages the live updates and customer service on @TfLTrafficNews
• Taxi and Private Hire manage the news and customer service on @TfLTPH
Many smaller teams also support our use of social media, from a range of directorates including Customer Experience, Surface Transport, and Technology and Data.
2. Please tell me how many staff you have who work in human resources functions across all TfL modes. Please show has this number has changed over the last five calendar years.
Please see the below headcount numbers which are a snapshot at the end of each financial year for the past five years. Please note that the spike in headcount between 2017 and 2018 is due to our employee communications team becoming part of HR (56 people).
Headcount Full-time Employees Number of Employees
