Request ID: FOI-1133-2223 Date published: 23 August 2022
You asked
Good morning,
Please can you kindly provide me with the following information:
Which of the London Underground routes, or TFL's overground train routes, operate electric tube or trains please?
Are you purchasing renewable energy to run these tubes and trains?
So, in effect, which routes can then be deemed as carbon neutral please?
Many thanks for your assistance.

Our ref: FOI-1133-2223/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5 August 2022 asking for information about carbon neutrality.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
All TfL branded tube and rail services are electric and the electricity is delivered through the grid. TfL’s current supply arrangements do not specify any percentage of renewable electricity. TfL’s long-term energy procurement strategy is to ensure that all the electricity used is generated by 100 per cent renewable sources by 2030. In June 2022 TfL launched its first Power Purchase Agreement procurement which was a major step for this ambition. This first tender aims to purchase 10 per cent of TfL’s required electricity from renewable energy sources and new build assets.
