You asked
For the past 5 years I ask to be provided the following information:
1. the number of fires involving TfL vehicles and in respect of each:
a. the registration mark (VRM) of the vehicle b. the cause of the fire (where known) c. the damage caused d. the cost of the damage
I am referring to any and all vehicles that are TfL property i.e. part of the fleets you maintain; busses, coaches, cars etc.

Thank you for your e-mail clarifying your request for information about vehicle fires. We maintain a fleet of various vehicles that we use for operational needs.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:
1. the number of fires involving TfL vehicles and in respect of each:
a. the registration mark (VRM) of the vehicle b. the cause of the fire (where known) c. the damage caused d. the cost of the damage
There have been two incidents in the last five years, please see the details below:
Incident 1:
a. The registration mark (VRM) of the vehicle
WU11OGZ.
b. The cause of the fire (where known)
We suspect that the (+) positive jumper cable came in direct contact with the hot turbo charger. This caused the positive wiring loom to melt, short out and eventually catch fire causing further damage to the other wiring looms and engine components.
c. The damage caused
Damage to wiring and engine components.
d. The cost of the damage
We do not hold this information as it was covered under maintenance.
Incident 2:
a. The registration mark (VRM) of the vehicle
LK58HKN.
b. The cause of the fire (where known)
Unknown.
c. The damage caused
Damage was caused to the nearside 3rd axle inner wheel area.
d. The cost of the damage
£3729.91.
