Our Ref:         FOI-0977-2122

Thank you for your request received on 13 August 2021 asking for information about buses on Bishopsgate.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked for:

The number and frequency of bus routes servicing Bishopsgate during the period 1 March 2021 to 31 July 2021. If we could narrow the search to Bus Passengers by bus routes travelling north/south via Bishopsgate. A total number of passengers for the period is agreeable.

•           The first tab in the attached spreadsheet shows the total number of boarders (people travelling from), alighters (people travelling to), and passengers travelling through the following eight stop codes and names which we’ve used to define the study area for Bishopsgate:
o          768 - LIVERPOOL STREET STATION
o          2114 - PRIMROSE STREET
o          2116 - LIVERPOOL STREET STATION
o          13456 - LIVERPOOL STREET STATION
o          37641 - LIVERPOOL STREET STATION
o          BP1575 - WORMWOOD STREET
o          BP1576 - WORMWOOD STREET
o          BP244 - LIVERPOOL STREET STATION

•           These demand figures are totals for the period from March 2021 to July 2021.
•           Routes 11, N11 and 42 have a small number of through passengers. This is based on the fact that despite Liverpool Street station being their respective destinations, there is an additional stop on Appold Street which serves as an alighting point only for those routes. Thus by definition, those passengers are travelling “through” Bishopsgate, albeit all having to alight not far away. The numbers of through passengers here is also comparatively smaller than other routes. For the opposite direction i.e. routes 11, N11 and 42 starting at Liverpool Street, there are no through passengers as the first opportunity to board is on Bishopsgate itself.
•           The relevant routes are 8, 11, 26, 35, 42, 47, 78, 135, 149, 205, 388, N11, N205, N242, N26, N8.

The number of passengers carried on bus routes servicing Bishopsgate. Please can you limit the search to the bus stop above Threadneedle Street and below Liverpool Street Station and the bus stop after Liverpool Street station (north and south) and a weekly figure will be agreeable.

•           The second tab in the attached spreadsheet has total boarders and alighters at each of the eight stops listed above in your first question.
•           The figures are totals for the week from Sunday 27 June 2021 to Saturday 3 July 2021.
