EV Charging Points within Staff & Company Car Parks

Request ID: FOI-0975-1819
Date published: 09 October 2018

You asked

I would like to make an enquiry regarding the figures and implementation of EV (Electric Vehicle) charging points across TfL premises that TfL staff are located at or TfL vehicles use regularly. This data is to include: -Premises where TfL staff or any of it's subsidies park including premises owned and not owned by TfL. -Premises where TfL vehicles or any of it's subsidies park including premises owned and not owned by TfL. -Premises where staff that directly operate a service for TfL including London Underground, London Buses, DLR, London Overground & Trams or any of it's subsidies park who may not be employed directly by TfL. (An example of this are premises that are run by a private company such as Arriva Rail London that Train Operators for London Overground would use as they come under the TfL umbrella, a further example of this would be Bus Drivers who work for Metroline and park at bus depots. ) The request of data is in the following the fields please. Premises Name & Address, Number of Parking Spaces, How many spaces are allocated for staff use, How many spaces are allocated for company vehicle use, How many spaces have EV charging points. I would further like to know any current plans or documents relating to the implementation of EV charging points across TfL and it's subsidies premises for staff or TfL vehicle use. The target number or percentage of spaces TfL aims to have EV charge points at for staff or TfL vehicle use. I would also like to know any documentation or communication TfL has from the Department of Transport guiding them or setting out a statement of the importance of EV charging points. I would like to know any documents, press releases or statements that TfL has made in the last two years regarding EV charging points at it's premises and also on public roads.

Thank you for your email received by us on 6 July 2018 asking for information about Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points across Transport for London (TfL) premises.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:

The figures and implementation of EV (Electric Vehicle) charging points across TfL premises that TfL staff are located at or TfL vehicles use regularly.

This data is to include:

-Premises where TfL staff or any of it's subsidies park including premises owned and not owned by TfL.

(An example of this are premises that are run by a private company such as Arriva Rail London that Train Operators for London Overground would use as they come under the TfL umbrella, a further example of this would be Bus Drivers who work for Metroline and park at bus depots. )

The request of data is in the following the fields please. Premises Name & Address, Number of Parking Spaces, How many spaces are allocated for staff use, How many spaces are allocated for company vehicle use, How many spaces have EV charging points.

TfL is committed to creating a zero emission zone in inner London by 2040, and a London-wide zone by 2050 to tackle London’s toxic air.
Please find attached a spreadsheet of the information we hold listing current operational EV charge points on the TfL estate for business support fleet use; this includes depot name, address, number of sockets and type of charge point at each site. These charging points are not for public use or for staff's own private vehicles. We do not hold any further information in relation to the amount of parking spaces they provide or their ownership/usage status.

I would further like to know any current plans or documents relating to the implementation of EV charging points across TfL and it's subsidies premises for staff or TfL vehicle use. The target number or percentage of spaces TfL aims to have EV charge points at for staff or TfL vehicle use.

I can advise that work is underway to plan for the deployment of more EV charge points for support fleet use across the TfL estate, which has recently started and is therefore at its early stages of development.

I would also like to know any documentation or communication TfL has from the Department of Transport guiding them or setting out a statement of the importance of EV charging points.

Since any guidance provided by the Department for Transport (DfT) or the DfT’s Office for Low Emissions on these matters is aimed at public bodies like TfL, they publish such documentation via their respective websites at:

I would like to know any documents, press releases or statements that TfL has made in the last two years regarding EV charging points at it's premises and also on public roads.
